Candle Care & Safety Guide

Burning Guide

Candle Museum candles are primarily designed as decorative pieces and are not contained within a jar. Due to this, you will need to give them some extra special care and attention if you do wish to burn them.

With that said, under the right care they can provide a great burn and last for 40+ hours.

We recommend following these steps to get the most of the experience.

  • Avoid messy spills! No one wants spilled wax all over the floor! Just to be safe, we recommend only burning these candles on a suitable flat, hard surface which will not be damaged by potential wax spills.
  • Always keep a close eye on the candle and allow it to burn until the wax pool extends close to the edges before extinguishing. Also ensuring the melt pool does not extend too close to the edges (resulting in a spill!).
  • Trim the candle wick as necessary between burns to remove any mushrooming and keep the wick at approximately 6mm in height.
  • Between each burn, you may need to assist the candle by trimming down excess wax to achieve a flat surface on the top of the candle. This will prevent excessive tunnelling and a weakened flame over time.

Frosting Guide

Frosting is a natural phenomenon which occurs in natural soy wax candles. There is a chance your candle Museum Candle will show frosting at some stage in its life. This will appear as white powdery coating developing on the candles surface.

The good news is, frosting has no impact on the way the candle burns or smells.

Additionally, it is relatively easy to dust away the powdery coating with any clean, soft brush (such as a soft haired paint brush), so your candle can look as good as new again in no time.

Safety Guide

  1. Keep the candle within sight.
  2. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  3. Avoid using water to extinguish a candle.
  4. Ensure that wicks are upright and trimmed to 7mm during usage and each time candle is relit.
  5. Each time you burn the candle, burn it until the wax pool approaches the other edges. Extinguish incense it gets too close to the edge to avoid wax spilling.
  6. Never move a burning candle; ensure it is extinguished and the wax is solid before handling.
  7. Avoid using in drafty areas, near open windows, air ducts, or fans.
  8. Keep away from children, pets and flammable materials.
  9. Use candle snuffer to extinguish the flame properly. It you don’t have one, blow gently and steadily on the flame until it goes out.
  10. Never introduce liquids or foreign objects into the candle; keep it free from wick trimmings, matches, and other flammable materials.
  11. If the meted wax pool appears to be overflowing, safely extinguish the candle as soon as possible.
